Product History

The line of Low-E® Reflective Foil Insulation was first manufactured in the US by ESP Inc.  ESP still operates under it’s founder and CEO who developed the patented process used to heat laminate the 99.4% pure aluminium surfaces of Low-E to our unique non-toxic Closed Cell Polyethylene Foam.

First put into production in 1993 Low-E Insulation is oldest manufactured reflective foil insulation on sale in the UK. To date over 650 million sq ft of Low-E has been produced and installed worldwide.  Low-E Insulation is now sold in over 28 countries.

Some people believe that foil insulation is a ‘space age’ product, mainly because the technology was revived by NASA during the space program when scientists were looking for ways to protect the spacecraft and astronauts from the heat of the sun. In fact, the idea of using reflective surfaces as insulators has been around for many years.

The most successful use was in the Thermos Flask, sometimes referred to by the inventors name the Dewar flask, or Dewar bottle. Dewar first invented the Flask 1892 and soon realised that Reflective heat loss could be minimized by applying a reflective coating to surfaces of his flask.

Low-E Insulation is continually striving to be at the forefront of the insulation industry. By researching applications, Low-E Insulation is constantly developing better and safer products to meet the demands of the contractors and homeowners and companies who care about the materials they use.

Low-E Insulation will continue to provide growth to our organizations and our customers. This will be achieved by continuing to expanding worldwide and implementing new ideas. Customer needs will always be our primary focus.
